A German supermarket chain has introduced a new way to checkout your items. In the new chain of stores, customers can pay for their purchases with a specially adapted mobile telephone.
"The Future Store" was recently opened near Duesseldorf. Customers pick up a specially adapted phone when they come to the store. Palm has posted a ROM update on its web site for the Verizon Palm Treo 755p. Precise details of what the update fixes aren't listed but Palm says "this software update is a tune-up that improves the phone application, stability and device usability."
The update is for Verizon's version of the Treo 755p only. Make sure you do the usual backups before installing the update. The process should take about 45 minutes.

A leaked document posted at Howard Forums shows that Sprint will release the Treo 800w on July 13. Business Partners should be able to pick up the device a little earlier, July 9, but most of use will have to wait for the 13th.
The full price of the Treo 800w will be $599 although you can get that down to $249 with contracts and rebates.

TreoCentral is reporting that Verizon's Palm Treo 700wx will get a Windows Mobile 6 Professional update. Someone apparently uncovered a set of Palm internal training slides that detail a number of upcoming rom updates and the Treo 700wx is on the list.
The Verizon Treo 700wx Update v1.24 is expected to come sometime during the spring or summer.

Palm Inc.'s Centro smart phone is finally launching on Verizon Wireless according to the companies. The blue Palm Centro will be available from Verizon Wireless' stores and Web site for $99 starting Friday. When I heard that Spb Software House had released a new mobile software entitled Spb Mobile Shell, I had to try it. The promise of better one handed operation of my Pocket PC phone was compelling enough to download it, and all the screen captures I saw looked great. I have to admit that my initial guess was that it would probably be sluggish because it appeared to be a new shell for my Pocket PC Phone. I am happy to say, I was wrong! It's fast and gorgeous.
