LG just purchased webOS from HP but they supposedly intend to use the OS in smart TVs. The webOS community seems to want mobile hardware however. webOS has found another home today. HP has agreed to sell the last remaining parts of webOS and its team to LG. webOS will apparently be used in LG's smart TVs. webOS has been left for dead and given to the open source community, but it's not over until it's over. HP has apparently struck a deal with LG to sell all the remaining pieces of Palm's webOS. HP CEO says no new smartphones in 2013

HP CEO Meg Whitman has confirmed that HP will not release a new smartphone in 2013. She has previously stated that HP will have to enter the smartphone market again at some point, but apparently not in the next year.

HP plans to cut more jobs than expected

HP announced plans earlier this year to cut 27,000 jobs from its global workforce. Now a new SEC filing released today indicates the number will actually be 29,000. The cuts will supposedly save the company over $3 billion.
In the filing the company said it had already cut about 3800 jobs. The cuts will continue through next year into 2014.
